Deploying with Docker Compose

Production Setup

The monolith binary is compiled as a static Rust binary in a FROM scratch container — minimal attack surface, fast startup, low memory.

Configuration

All configuration is via Rocket.toml or environment variables prefixed with ROCKET_. Sensitive values (secret keys, database URLs) should always come from environment variables.

Database

CockroachDB provides PostgreSQL compatibility with built-in replication. For single-node deployments, it works just like PostgreSQL. Migrations run automatically on startup.

Monitoring

The monolith exposes OpenTelemetry traces (via OTLP/HTTP) and a /health endpoint. Connect Jaeger or Grafana Tempo for distributed tracing.
