Getting Started with Alavio CMS

Admin tutorial getting-started cms

Introduction

Alavio CMS is a modern headless content management system built entirely in Rust. In monolith mode, all services run as a single binary — perfect for small deployments.

Setting Up

The monolith comes with a pre-configured Docker Compose stack that includes CockroachDB, Redis, and RabbitMQ. Simply run docker compose up and you're ready to go.

Creating Content

Content in Alavio is organized into content types and content items. Content types define the schema (fields, validation rules), while content items hold the actual data.

Page Builder

The page builder lets you compose pages from reusable blocks: hero sections, text blocks, feature grids, calls to action, image galleries, testimonials, and more. Each block has its own schema and Handlebars partial template.

Templates

Templates use the Handlebars engine. You can create layouts (partials), page templates, and block partials. The template renderer compiles them into HTML and serves them via the public site.
